NSS Disabled Sailing Progression to Racing Plan

This document is specific for those wishing to race Hansa dinghies at Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club.

We currently have six 303 and two 203 dinghies that can be used for race events.  We also have a trailer that allows us to take two boats to open events held at other clubs in the UK.

We currently support race training during our sailability sessions we run each week on Tuesday afternoons.

We support the use of the boats in the club racing held every week over the winter at Piddinghoe.

We intend to support weekend racing at Piddinghoe during the summer months once there are sufficient sailors to allow three boats to race.  Those wishing to progress are able to hire Hansa dinghies on Saturdays and join in the Assisted sailing in the mornings.

For the racing at weekends sailors must bring their own carers or support worker, to rig and launch and recover the boats. We will provide training for the carers to ensure they can safely undertake the rigging of the boats and know where all the sails are stored.

We intend to provide regular race training at the weekends from a volunteer race coach over the summer period once we have sufficient sailors. Once sailors gain confidence at Piddinghoe to race and have good familiarity of the race rules we would encourage and support sailors to visit other clubs and compete in the Hansa TT UK race series.
