RYA SRC-VHF RADIO COURSE
The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is a minimum legal requirement for every British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. It’s also essential and informative for anyone who enjoys boating so that they can use a marine radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) functionality.

RYA DAY SKIPPER SHOREBASED THEORY Course.
This course equips you with enough theory knowledge to safely navigate yachts around familiar waters by day and introduce you to night cruising.
You will need a basic stationery kit, soft pencils, rubbers, dividers and a chart plotter specifically for use on the RYA Day Skipper shorebased training course. The dividers and Portland plotter along with the RYA course book can be purchased from the Instructor.
We will provide the Trainee Course Packs and the Training Almanacs and tea and coffee. Remember to bring Lunch. Numbers are limited to 8 trainees. (5 if Covid restrictions apply.)
The course is taught over 40 hours with two exam papers over the 5 days of 8 hour sessions.
Course topics include: The basics of seamanship, the essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage, chartwork, electronic charts, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, weather forecasting and meteorology, tides, collision regulations, construction, parts and equipment of a cruising boat, emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts.
